Njemanze: Madumere remains Imo deputy governor till May 29, Okorocha deceiving Ekenze

-

An elder statesman in Imo state and Social crusader, Bob Njemamze, has said Governor Rochas Okorocha’s penchant for excellence in breach of protocol and due process is the bane of his administration.

Njemanze was speaking against the backdrop of Okorocha’s insistence on recognizing Calistus Ekenze as deputy governor designate despite the clarification by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Paschal Nnadi last year that Prince Eze Madumere remains the only Imo Deputy Governor recognised by law.

Njemanze wondered why Okorocha would choose to wallow in ignorance having failed completely to oust Madumere as the deputy governor of Imo State following the court ruling, which declared his purported removal from office by few members of Imo State House of Assembly as null, void and of no effect.

The elder statesman asked: “Why would the Governor-Elect of People’s Democratic Party be presented  as deputy governor designate and Okorocha’s Ekenze is also being childishly paraded as deputy governor designate, this is like turning the whole state to a laughing stock despite our status as one of the most sophisticated in comity of states. I urge Okorocha to stop the shameful acts.

“Prince Eze Madumere remains the Deputy Governor of Imo State till the expiration of his tenure on May 29, 2019, when he would become a former deputy governor as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Mocking Okorocha, he said: “Ekenze who is being paraded by Okorocha wherever they go would also be expected to write his hand-over note to the Deputy Governor Designate, Gerald Ironna of PDP on May 29 and then report back to the Prince Eze Madumere, the Deputy Governor of Imo State recognized by law and the people of the state.”

The fiery social commentator warned against the attitude of Okorocha against Madumere where he has denied him his rights and privileges since the inception of Okorocha’s administration, his aides inclusive. “There will surely be a day of reckoning”; he said.

Speaking further he said that the bane of Okorocha’s administration has been intimidation, impunity and grandstanding.

“This is a man who unleashed mayhem on Imo people, deployed hoodlums continually to push down the throat of the people his inhuman policies, grabbing people’s lands despite court orders. The height of his impunity was trying to impose his son-in-law on Imo people. These are signs of mal-administration and lack of capacity to lead. Leadership is beyond block work and empty buildings. Those whose brain he was tapping from to keep up, he betrayed them and confined himself to a state of irredeemable loss. he would be remembered as one who came at certain time and treated Imo people like a sadist-emperor.
