Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Niniola Apata, has dismissed trending rumours that she had a secret wedding, insisting she is still single.

She debunked the claims recently while featuring as a guest on a programme on Yanga FM in Lagos.

The ‘Maradona’ crooner was addressing suggestions that her absence from the spotlight was due to her new status as a married woman.

Several reports online had claimed the 38-year-old singer recently tied the knot but was keeping the marriage secret so that it wouldn’t negatively affect her career and show bookings.

While addressing the speculations during the interview, Niniola clarified that she is yet to get married.

She said, “I don’t care whatever anyone does or says [about my personal life]. After all, I’m not a 12-year-old; I’m old enough to say whatever it is I want to say with my full chest. I’m not married.”

On why she is yet to collaborate with her younger sister, singer Teni Apata, Niniola said it has to happen at the right time and under the right circumstances.

She emphasised that music is business, adding that “there’s no family in business.”
