Nigeria’s taekwondo contingent begins training tour in Senegal ahead of 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games

Nigeria’s Taekwondo contingent led by team coach Anthony Chukwuemeka Muhammed has arrived in Senegal for a training tour ahead of the Dakar 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games.

The Games will take place in Dakar, Senegal, the first country on the African continent to host the prestigious sporting event.

The Nigerian athletes

The Nigerian taekwondo team which consists of two males and two females, and the Coach Anthony Chukwuemeka Muhammed, a veteran in the martial art sport, join athletes in other African countries including host Senegal, Comoros, South Sudan, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Libya, Kenya and Gambia.

After the training tour, the Nigerian contingent, along with the senior team from Nigeria will converge in Ethiopia on April 24 to participate at the World Taekwondo African Presidential Cup.

The championship, which is a collaborative effort of the World Taekwondo, African Taekwondo Union and the Ethiopian Taekwondo Federation,  will feature athletes all over the world competing for various medals.
