Following the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians are asking him to reshuffle his cabinet to remove those they call dead woods.
Among those on the list are Minister of Sports and Youth Development Solomon Dalong, Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, Education Minister, Adamu Adamu, Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu.
According to them, these ministers have either brought disrepute to his presidency or did not perform during their four-year stay in his cabinet.
They say Nigerians do not deserve to be punished with them still at the helm of affairs in their various ministries.
Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu refused to resign after it was revealed that he did not serve in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Agriculture Minister, Audu Ogbeh told Buhari during a Federal Executive Council meeting that several rice mills have collapsed in Thailand following Nigeria’s rice policy, a report which the Thai government denied.
Under Education Minister, Adamu Adamu, tertiary institutions went on strike for almost six months.
For them, Solomon Dalung almost crippled Nigeria’s football federation when he backed the Chris Giwa faction. It took the intervention of the presidency to restored.
President Buhari operated with almost the same hands in his cabinet during his first tenure, a clear departure from his predecessors.
Critics say his inability to reshuffle his cabinet plunged Nigeria into various crises.
