Nigerians have condemned the actions of some of the BBNaija stars who graced the evening of tribute of their late colleague, Patrick Fakoya better known as Rico Swavey, after a video at the event made the rounds on social media.
Rico Swavey died on Thursday, October 13, 2022, two days after he was involved in a fatal car crash which led to him being placed on life support.
BBNaija stars, such as Cross Okonkwo and Elozonam Ogbolu, were seen in a clip posted by Dorathy Bachor via her Twitter page on Wednesday, October 19, doing what many fans frowned at and described as disrespectful.

The stars were holding up candles and whisky glasses while singing the lyrics of Jay-Z’s 2009 track, “Forever Young”.
After the now-viral video surfaced on the internet, netizens took to the comment section to call out the former housemates for posting the video and raising a glass of whiskey at the event.
A netizen identified on Twitter as @Tejumola_ wrote, “His death was tragic and untimely. This is so distasteful,”
Expressing disappointment at Dorathy Bachor for sharing the video, a tweep, @Tayvon_yung, wrote, “I’m highly disappointed in you @Thedorathybach. Like, if I had not seen this myself, I wouldn’t have believed you of all people will be a party to this. Y’all lost a brother at 29. What are you fools celebrating and flaunting? Common sense is truly not common.”
Another Twitter user, @Wizarab10 questioned the manner of celebration and wrote, “He died young. You don’t raise glasses to that. Who came up with this idea? So no one could shut it down?”
Kuz_chainz added, “Who celebrates a young man’s death in such fashion? This new generation of celebrities are always acting stupid.”
While @iamAbiodunAA tweeted “A person died young from accident you’re raising glasses of drinks up? Singing forever young?”
