By Ishaya Ibrahim

A recent comment by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, appears not to sit well with some Nigerians on Twitter.

Adeboye had said that the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, can fix Nigeria with God’s help.

The clergyman added that Nigeria would prosper under Tinubu’s administration.

The clergyman urged Tinubu to fulfil Nigerians’ dream of a new nation.

Adeboye, who was represented by his Special Assistant, Pastor Dele Balogun, made the comment at the monthly Thanksgiving service at the RCCG Headquarters in Ebute-Metta.

He said: “Let us pray for the incoming government that God will support it and give it the Grace to do the right thing.

“Thank God the President-elect has promised to fix Nigeria. If God helps him, Nigeria will prosper in his hands.”

The comment has generated angry reactions from Nigerians.

@DanielRegha said: “Pastor Adeboye is a respected clergy but him saying that “Tinubu will fix Nigeria with God’s help” is a disrespect to the Christian community due to the Muslim-Muslim ticket, & an insult to democracy; It also proves he supports Tinubu cos the presidential tribunal isn’t over yet.”

@Odogwu_Nomso said: “Adeboye before Election: ‘God has not spoken to me.’

“Adeboye after Election: ‘I will be speaking for God, Tinubu can fix NG.’

“He is not Real.”

@dj_switchaholic said: “Daddy Adeboye seems to have found the voice he lost when Nigerians were suffering suppression and violence from his best friends in the APC! Now god wants to help Tinubu fix Nigeria? One day, una go show us the particular god wey una dey refer to! Know for yourself!”

@duso4me said: “This is why it will take a long time for Nigeria to experience real change. A whole pastor Adeboye. Except you never followed the election. How can Tinubu fix Nigeria after stealing the election. Church na scam finally.”
