Nigerians react after Tems featured on soundtrack of ‘Wakanda Forever’

Tems earned accolades after the teaser trailer for the movie, which would be the first without lead actor, Chadwick Boseman, was made public

Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi better known as Tems, is trending on social media and receiving accolades for featuring on the soundtrack of ‘Wakanda Forever’, an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther. 

The singer, who recently won double prizes at the 2022 BET Awards, in the Best International Act and the Best Collaboration category did a cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry” hit song in the film.  

The movie, which is intended to be the sequel to Black Panther and the 30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. 

Tems latest achievement was made public after the teaser trailer for the film, which would be the first without lead actor Chadwick Boseman, was released.

The accomplishment is coming in the wake of being acknowledged as one of the song composers in Beyonce’s forthcoming album. 

Many Nigerians who have watched the teaser couldn’t help but applaud Tems for a beautiful rendition of Bob Marley’s song. 

A netizen identified as datdamigirl wrote, “Tems gon get herself a Grammy one way or the other with the way she’s moving.” 

Another fan, promisepullen said, “Disrespectful to compare her with anyone right now, Afrobeat is winning .”

One member of the online community @ deyan_music, who saw it from the angle of it profiting the late reggae singer and his family also wrote: “Bob Marley still getting royalties even in heaven, na spiritual songs I won dey sing now .” 

While a proud Nigerian identified as holyjames2 said,  “Our tems baby doing us proud❤️❤️❤️ proud of ya.”
