Nigerians make jest of IGP Adamu’s sack

-

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had just arrived Imo and was on tour inspecting the carnage wrecked on the police headquarters and the Nigerian Correctional Service facility in the state only to receive the news that he has been removed.

The dramatic removal of the man who was literally on the road and who had just given an order for the demolition of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), the group he had accused of being the mastermind of the carnage in Imo, became the butt of jokes for Nigerians on the social media.

Adamu’s tenure was only extended in February by three months which supposed to expire in the first week of May. But one month before then, Buhari terminated the man’s job.

The former senator representing Kaduna North in the National Assembly, Shehu Sani, said of the sack of Adamu ” Goodbye Adamu, rest well and regain your lost weight.”

Social media influencer, Japhet Omojuwa, also quipped “They extended Adamu’s tenure only to fire him on the road?”

For a twitter user @opeyemifolarin1, he said: “My thoughts are with Mohammed Adamu. He truly deserves this treatment from the Presidency.”

@sirpeeworld also said: “Adamu arrives Imo as the IGP over the attack on Police and prison facilities. While he was busy talking tough on how he will kill IPOB/ESN operatives, Buhari fired him and appoint Usman Alkali Baba to replace him. Adamu who came to Owerri as IGP will now return to Abuja as former IG.”
