A Nigerian woman, Princess Ajibola, and her group, the Centre for Africa Liberation and Socio-Economic Rights (CALSER), have been chastised for threatening Amnesty International with violence over #EndSARS.
In a press statement, the leader of the group said if Amnesty International refused to leave Nigeria within seven says, that they would be faced with violence in their offices across the country.
“For Nigeria to rebuild, Amnesty International must be out of the way. CALSER, therefore, gives Amnesty International a seven-day ultimatum to leave Nigeria. The NGO’s failure to leave Nigeria will attract civil disobedience at its offices in Abuja and Lagos on a scale that will make the campaign of looting and arson it facilitated appear like child’s play. Amnesty International’s offices and those of all its affiliated organizations and known supporters in Nigeria will be set upon the same way that its agents destroyed critical assets in the country. Its staffers will be treated the same way that innocent policemen lynched by mobs were treated.”
The threats against Amnesty International by Princess Ajibola have infuriated Nigerians who used the social media to lampoon her and her organisation.
@AbdulMahmud01 tweeted: “The face of Princess Ajibola, Gen. Buratai’s goon, who has threatened to feed staff of Amnesty International Nigeria to lynch mob.”
@Tunde_Adeparusi also tweeted: “This lady should be picked up by the DSS immediately if we’re still operating a sane society. Apparently, government is gradually going rogue.”
@occp1967 also tweeted: “Princess Ajibola, and the Centre for Africa Liberation and Socio-Economic Rights (CALSER) should be ashamed of themselves. How much did they pay you and your group?”
@henryezeanya added: “Did this Princess Ajibola just openly threatened the lives of Amnesty International staff? Are there staff not Nigerians? So they should be lynched while carrying out their duties because you don’t like @AmnestyNigeria? This is an open threat to human life.”
