A Ghanian artiste. Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has provoked Nigerians to a rage on social media after using the f word to describe Nigerians.

Shatta Wale  is a Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist. According to Wikipedia, his best-known singles are “Dancehall King”, My Level and We Taking Over, which led him to win the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Shatta Wale holds a grudge against Nigerians for not promoting his songs in the country. He suspects a gang-up, the reason he appears to be in the shadow of some Nigerian greats like Burna Boy, Wizkid and the others

In several tweets, after a performance in Ghana where fans filled up the venue, he described Nigerians in uncomplimentary remarks.

In one tweet, Shatta wale said: “I am a different guy ,Don’t even compare me to any artiste in the world ..If you do that ,I will rise right in front of you like a Volcano ,burn your shame and watch my disgrace be my grace in your Nigerian face …This is not a fite,it’s the fucken truth #.”

In another rant, he says! “I don’t need Nigerian music industry to hit. I need to let those so called Naija fans and industry players to know ..Ghana industry and Ghana fans supported them when they needed fame so bad,so they should appreciate and say thank you not only to Ghana but Africa as whole ! Pussyy!!”

But Nigerians gave Shatta Wale several knocks, making him a top trend on Nigerian Twitter.

@SavvyRinu said: “Shatta Wale is fighting with thin air in Ghana instead of begging people to stream his music. No be Nigerians make you unfortunate bro.”

@Mbahdeyforyou said: “Shatta Wale songs wey dey give person headache, Ghanaian dey try sha.”

@Omojuwa said: “Shatta Wale is obsessed with Nigerian artists. That thing people become when they can’t beat you, they hate! You filled a stadium (don’t know price of tickets or the stadium capacity) but at least enjoy your moment. Find fulfilment. You are doing ok too. They are just way bigger!”

@OgbeniDipo also said: “Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, Adekunle Gold and co don’t need to reply Shatta Wale. Vic O is the appropriate person to engage him.”

@gimbakakanda said: “What Shatta Wale is doing is the classic divide-and-rule method of acquiring power—the power here being one to stay relevant. It’s what politicians all over the world do. It’s rather disheartening that an entertainer whose art ought to bring people together has chosen this path.”
