Nigerian Army arrests self-proclaimed Biafra commander, Gentle De Yahoo

The Nigerian Army has recorded multiple successes across different states in the past 24 hours, including the arrest of a self-proclaimed commander of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, popularly known as Gentle De Yahoo.
According to a military source at Army Headquarters who spoke with The Nation on Tuesday, the suspect was captured by troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade in a joint operation with sister security agencies at his hideout in Aku-Ihube, Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.
“The operation led to the recovery of one English pistol, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, one cartridge, six mobile phones, military and police uniforms, and a German flag. Troops also uncovered a workshop where stolen vehicles were dismantled for resale, in addition to destroying 10 motorcycles found at the scene,” the source was quoted as saying.
Also, troops killed three terrorists and rescued 11 kidnapped victims in separate operations in Benue, Katsina, Kogi and Adamawa States.
Rescue operations included five hostages in Madagali LGA of Adamawa State, five in Kukasheka Ward of Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State, and two in Lokoja LGA of Kogi State.
The source was further quoted as saying: “Also, troops recorded notable operational breakthroughs in Katsina State, neutralizing two terrorists in separate encounters, and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and a motorcycle, while in Benue State, troops neutralized one violent extremist, seizing a mobile phone and assorted charms.
“In addition, 11 suspects were arrested in different locations across Benue, Kogi, and Kaduna States for armed robbery, gunrunning, and violent extremist activities.
“Troops of the Nigerian Army also recovered 40 rustled cattle in Plateau State, which were returned to their rightful owners.”
