Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles defeated Brazil 1-0 in an international friendly game at the Estadio Kleber in Cariaca, Brazil late Thursday night.
The only goal of the game was scored by Ubong Ekpai as early as the third minute.
On parade for Brazil were Lazio’s Felipe Anderson, Wallace and Fabinho of Monaco, Ederson of Benfica. While Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira came in as a substitute.
For the Nigerian team, the likes of Emmanuel Daniel, Segun Oduduwa, Ezekiel Imoh, Taiwo Awoniyi and Musa Mohammed were on parade.
Brazil pushed desperately for an equaliser throughout regulation time and seven minutes of added time, but the Nigeria defence and goalkeeper, Daniel, held firm.
It is the third time Nigeria will beat Brazil at any level, with the previous two wins coming in Atlanta 1996 Olympics and the 2015 U-17 World Cup in Chile.
Both Nigeria and Brazil are using the friendly game to prepare for this year’s summer Olympic Games in Rio.
