The newly elected Chairman of Niger State chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Mr. Femi Isaac Alalade, has said that his leadership would work with the State Private Schools Management Board and Commissioner of Education to ensure that fundamental rules of setting up private schools were adhered to.

Alalade disclosed this after his election.

He said that lack of quality control has led to the drop in the quality of private schools and their students in the state.

Alalade explained that he was not trying to bring in a new law, but to ensure that the fundamental principles were followed and his executive have what it takes to enforce quality control in private schools in the state.

His words: “Right now, there is no real quality control when you want to establish private school. Unlike when I started, before buying the registration form, you have to go for site inspection before you can start.

“But now, after the registration, people will just go ahead and start without follow-up. This has affected the quality of private schools which will no longer be so.”

Also, the NAPPS state chairman stated that the executive were not unaware of the challenges faced by owners of private schools in the state, assuring that they will not fail them.

“We have what it takes to make all our dreams come true. At the state level, we will organize ourselves and identify potentials thereby, creating enabling environment for growth and progress of the association,”he said.
