Niger govt secures release of NSTA travelers after two weeks in kidnappers’ den

Niger State government on Sunday February 21, 2021, secured the release of the passengers of the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) bus abducted by bandits along  Yakila road, Rafi Local Government Area. The passengers were heading back to Minna before they were intercepted and taking captive by their abductors.

The state  government is also intensifying efforts for the release of the students and staff of Government Science College, Kagara kidnapped along with their families.

The governor’s Chief Press, Mary Noel Berje, disclosed this in a statement.

She also solicited for the prayers and understanding of the public in getting the victims reunited with their various families unharmed.

Recall that no fewer than 40 passengers were abducted on Sunday by armed bandits terrorizing some parts of Niger State.

Eight out of the over 40 passengers were later released by the armed bandits who also gave conditions for the release of the remaining hostages.

The bandits had demanded for N500 million and/or release of their top commanders arrested by law enforcement agencies.
