Niger State government has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation of Ibrahim Idris as substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP) by the Council of state. The state government described the development as most deserving as the new IGP is the first police officer of Niger State origin to attain such position.
The state government in a statement on Thursday urged Idris to apply his wealth of experience in the force to surmount security challenges.
In a statement by the Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Jonathan Vatsa, the state government urged the IGP to consider his confirmation as a challenge for greater responsibility to bring his experiences over the years to bear to have a superlative tenure.
While thanking President Muhammadu Buhari for finding one of the sons of the state worthy of leading a new regime of policing in the country, Vatsa stated: “Though the new IGP was leading the police force in a trying time of various security challenges, he should consider his confirmation as challenge for greater responsibilities.
“The experience of the IGP as a super operation cop haven attained professional training within and outside Nigeria will be very invaluable to help the nation to overcome its security challenges with prayers and support from all patriotic Nigerians.”.
