Niger gov’s wife donates N12m to women cooperative societies

Wife of the Niger State Governor and Founder, RAiSE Foundation, Dr. Amina Abubakar Sani Bello, in collaboration with FADAMA on Wednesday supported 60 women cooperative societies with N12 million.

Presenting the cheques to leaders of the 60 cooperative societies in Minna, the state capital, Amina Bello said that the money was targeted towards improving the economic wellbeing of the beneficiaries.

Each of the cooperative societies having between 15 to 20 members is to receive N200, 000 to inject into their businesses.

State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Rose Abara, commended the governor’s wife for the gesture and urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilize the money by properly monitoring and supervising whatever they invested the money for maximum benefits.

She however urged women to form and or join cooperative societies because it will easily pave way for support from the government and organisations.

The state FADAMA Coordinator, Malam Aliyu Usman Kutigi, said that the foundation, which is creating employment and also empowering women and youth, is the best thing that has happened to Nigerlites in recent times.

He said that the project of the state FADAMA was to target 300 youths, who will be trained in various agricultural enterprises of their choice and will be supported.

“We have trained 66 youths and empowered them with N6.6 million grants to acquire various skills and each of them will be given N100, 000 as a take-off grant to start their own.

“This empowerment will help to take youths away from the streets and reduce the rate of unemployment in the state,” he said.
