Niger ex-deputy governor resumes duty as Nigeria’s envoy in Pretoria

-

The former Deputy Governor of Niger State, Ahmed Musa Ibeto, has resumed duty as Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa amidst rousing reception from Nigerian communities resident in South Africa after being officially received by the South African government.

Ibeto, who was earlier received by the South African government where he had presented his letter of credence to the country’s government was later welcomed by Nigerian consulate officials in Pretoria and other Nigerian communities in the South African capital city.

During the ceremony that heralded his resumption of office, Ibeto expressed optimism of entrenching robust, fruitful and peaceful working relationship with consulate officials, the Nigerian communities living in the country and their host, South Africans.

According to his Media Aide, Bala Bitrus, Nigerians resident in the once apartheid ravaged country were happy to have Ibeto to speak for them when the need arises.

Consulate officials and other ancillary staff, who received Ibeto at the Nigerian House in South Africa, had pledged to work with him towards making the consulate an enviable diplomatic hub among other foreign missions.

Ibeto, however, tasked Nigerians living in any part of that country to remain law abiding in demonstration of the change mantra of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government in their everyday conducts including in their work and business places, schools and other endeavours.

Assuring Nigerian communities of his preparedness to be there for them, Ibeto promised to pursue new chapters for a more cordial and mutually beneficial relationship between every Nigerian in South Africa, their host communities and other countries of the world.

Ibeto has held different positions including Deputy Governor of Niger State and a lawmaker.
