NFVCB approves another batch of films

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) verified and approved a total of 79 movies for the month of September 2014.

A breakdown of the films by the Acting Head, Corporate Affairs of the board, Caesar Kagho, explained that 11 of the movies approved are feature length films for cinema exhibition, while 68 are for home viewership.

The September approvals show a marginal improvement of nine films over the August figure of 70.

 

“The September breakdown from the NFVCB indicates that approved movies for home viewership place Yoruba language content in the lead with 31 movies, English language 20 movies, Hausa 16 and Bini two,” Kagho stated.

He further explained that the NFVCB requires that all approved movies are to be released with their respective consumer advisories of imitable technique, strong languages, violence, drug abuse, nudity and sex, and fetish rituals.

 

Of the 79, four were classified “15”, five “18”, one “G” and one “PG” for the cinema exhibition. Among those for home viewership, 29 have “15” classification grade, 38 classified “18” for adult viewership, one “12” and one “PG”.
