Atalanta’s new head coach, Raffaele Palladino, has confirmed that Super Eagles’ winger, Ademola Lookman, is part of his plans, calling him a “key star.”

Palladino made this known while being unveiled at the Serie A club after his appointment.

Lookman’s future with La Dea had previously remained uncertain after reports suggested he was pushing for a move to Inter Milan in the summer.

He was also at loggerheads with the immediate past coach, Ivan Juric, as both had found it difficult to get along. The Nigeria winger was involved in a touchline row with Juric earlier this month.

Due to these issues, Lookman has been linked with a January exit from the club.

However, Palladino, while speaking, stated that the 28-year-old remains a central figure at the club.

He said, “Lookman is crucial. I called him, as well as all the others who were on national team duty. He presented himself very well. I’ll evaluate his role based on how he performs in training.”

Palladino replaced former coach, Juric, who was recently sacked following a string of poor results.

Atalanta will be away to champions Napoli on Saturday.
