Netizens briefly take their eyes off Tinubu bashing to show compassion to fellow Nigerians in hardship

Netizens have briefly diverted their attention from planning a mega protest against the wasteful allocation of funds by Bola Tinubu to crowdfund more than N7.3 million for a Lagos family unexpectedly delivered of quadruplets in an impossible country made worse by the President.

Compassionate Nigerians contributed the money to the family of Sodiq Olayode, whose wife, Abiodun, recently gave birth to four babies at the same time. The couple already had one child, they wanted just one more to round off at two, but are now saddled with five kids to feed.

Plus husband and wife, that means a family of eight to cater for in a Tinubu republic where a 5kg paint container of garri costs N4k, rice N7.5k, beans N10k, and a family-size loaf of bread N2k.

Folks were moved by the heartfelt lamentation of the family that the four babies use 105 diapers in six days.

Procter and Gamble, the manufacturer of popular Huggies brand of diaper, exited Nigeria earlier this earlier year citing an unfavourable business environment the government gears toward collection of taxes without tangible social support for individuals and companies.

The price of diaper has gone up, as do the price of other goods (and services).

Sodiq had gone viral on X (Twitter) after a friend shared his story about his wife giving birth to quadruplets even as the couple only wanted to “add one more child.”

“A colleague of mine who had two kids already said he should do and add one more. Guess how many his wife gave birth to? 4 at once,” JamesofGod @jamysax wrote.

James shared a screenshot one of the WhatsApp posts of Sodiq about the number of diapers used in a short period.

“105 pieces of diapers in 6 days. Haaa, mo gbe mo daran. E shanu mi eyin quadruplet yi,” the post read.

It gained the attention of netizens with some highlighting the challenges of raising young children.

Sodiq disclosed in an interview with Feelrightnewstv on Facebook the family had been blessed with a daughter before the arrival of the quadruplets (two boys and two girls).

The quadruplets were born at eight months because the pregnancy was becoming “life-threatening,” he said.

He confirmed that as of 1.08pm [today, Wednesday] he has received N7,313,958 million and some individuals have offered to give him baby items and diapers.

James said: “I reached out to them yesterday for their permission to post their picture and that of the children, as well as his account details.

“For people asking for [Sodiq’s] account details, this is it. 082 470 3833, Access bank – Sodiq Olayode.”
