The Netherlands became the first country to qualify for the round of eight at the 2022 FIFA World Cup after dispatching the United States in a match played at the Khalifa International Stadium.
The US began the match like a house on fire and dominated possession and shots attempts but they were unable to capitalise on their dominance.
It was the Netherlands who opened the scoring in the 10th minute when a cross from Denzel Dumfries successfully found Memphis Depay who scored with the right foot to make it 1-0.

Daley Blind then doubled the Dutch advantage with the final kick of the first half after scoring from another cross put into the box by
Denzel Dumfries.
The Dutch were given anxious moments when the US pulled a goal back in the 76th minute as Haji Wright’s freak deflection from Pulisic’s cross looped in at the far post.
But they restored their two-goal lead five minutes later when creator Dumfries turned scorer, side-footing in a volley at the far post from Blind’s cross to end the game 3-1 in favour of the Netherlands.
