Nestle Milo set to camp basketball players

In fulfillment of its promise at the commencement of the just concluded 17th edition of the Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship, the sponsors, Nestle Nigeria Plc., has concluded plans to camp players selected from the championship.

 

According to our source, the sponsor is ready to open camp for the selected players once the names are forwarded to the sponsors.

We gathered that the organisers, Nigeria Schools Sports Federation (NSSF) in partnership with the National Collegiate Sports Foundation (NCSF) already picked a selected team of 12 players to represent Nigeria in a West Africa School Basketball tournament in October this year.

 

Our source said: “We are ready to take the players to camp once the NSSF in partnership with the NCSF forward the names of the selected players to us.

 

It will be recalled that St. Judes Girls Secondary School, Amaranta, Bayelsa State and Government Secondary School, Kaduna State emerged as winners in the girls and boys categories.

In the girls final, St. Judes Girls Secondary School, Amaranta, Bayelsa State defeated Idiah College, Benin City, Edo State 18 – 15 points to clinch the trophy and cart home N120, 000 among other things while Government Secondary school, Kaduna State defeated St. Peters College, Idah, Kogi State by 52 – 51 points in the boys final and also went home with the star prize of N120, 000 among other things.

 

There were also individual prizes that went to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the championship; Most Entertaining team, Best Fair team among others.

 

Over 12, 000 students in different schools in the country participated in this year’s edition of the championship which has been described as very successful.
