NDLEA arrests blind grandad in the South, leper in the North

Haruna Abdullahi, a 45-year-old leper, and a blind 67-year-old grandfather, Aliyu Adebiyi, have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for trafficking in drugs.
NDLEA Media and Advocacy Director Femi Babafemi disclosed Adebiyi was caught with 234 kilogrammes of cannabis in a statement he issued on the latest discovery of the tricks of drug pushers.
“In Osun State, NDLEA officers on [20 January] took into custody a blind 67-year-old grandpa, Aliyu Adebiyi, in whose house they found 234kg of cannabis at Sokoto village, Owena Ijesa, Atakumosa East LGA.
“In his statement, he said a drug dealer kept the consignment with him for a fee of N6,000 per month and paid for three months upfront,” Babafemi explained, according to reporting by The PUNCH.
He said Abdullahi, who is notorious for drug dealing, was arrested in Garko town, Kano on 19 January and 2.2kg of cannabis and various quantities of diazepam and exol were recovered from him.

Cocaine consignments seized in Lagos, skunk in Enugu
Attempts by drug cartels from Brazil and Canada to import into Nigeria 126.95 kilograms of cocaine and skunk concealed in herbal tea packs and imported vehicles were also thwarted by the NDLEA.
Babafemi disclosed in a statement on 22 January the seizures were made at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu and Tin Can Island Port in Lagos, per The PUNCH.
He said an Ethiopian Airline male passenger, Eze Ikenna, 42, coming from Brazil via Addis Ababa was intercepted on arrival at Enugu Airport at about 12:30 pm on 20 January.
A search of his two bags revealed 19 big sachets he claimed contained herbal tea but were found to be cocaine weighing 16.20 kilograms.
Examination of a container marked TCLU 7799237 from Montreal, Canada at Sifax Okota Bonded Terminal at Tin Can Port on 18 January led to the discovery of 110.75kgs of cannabis concealed in two of the four vehicles in the container – a 2011 Toyota Sienna and a 2011 Honda Pilot SUV.
Babafemi said a consignment of Tramadol tracked for months by NDLEA operatives was traced to a warehouse on Greenfield Estate in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos on 17 January.
“When the store was opened, a total of 1,645,560 pills of Tramadol 100mg, 200mg and 225mg were recovered.
“Another 60,000 pills of Tramadol 250mg were equally recovered from a wanted drug dealer, Diugwu Alphonsus, in the Bariga area of the state on the same day, while raids carried out in the Akala area of Mushin on Wednesday and Friday led to the recovery of 781.7kgs of cannabis.”
