Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has returned to training with his Turkish Süper Lig club, Beşiktaş, barely a week after laying his father to rest.
Ndidi Senior, a retired military officer, died in a car accident in the Umunede area of Delta State last month.
Announcing the death in a statement on X, Beşiktaş wrote: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident.”

Following the tragic incident, he was laid to rest last Friday in Agbor, Delta State.
After paying his final respects, Ndidi will now be available for Sunday’s home clash against Göztepe, having missed last weekend’s 3-2 away win at İstanbul Başakşehir.
The 29-year-old has scored once in 16 league appearances for Beşiktaş this season.
The Black and Whites are fifth in the table with 40 points from 22 matches, while Göztepe sit fourth with 41 points.
