NDDC showcases road project in Imo, FG donates N5.65b to varsity

Imo State is feeling the impact of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) through road projects and the state university is basking in grants from Abuja.

 

 

NDDC Commissioner for Imo State, Kirean Uchegbu, disclosed that the road project from Avu junction to Adapalm will cost N4 billion.

NDDC provided documents which showed that it has completed over 60 road projects across the state.

 

Uchegbu said President Goodluck Jonathan has interest in the projects and has given the NDDC approval to complete them.

The roads include Chokoneze-Orie Mbaise Ife; phase 2 of Ezinihitte-Aboh Mbaise; Uzo Umu Asiegbu-Okulo; Okirika Ama Ahiazu Mbaise; Ogbafor-Mgbele; Umuodu Umueze.

 

They also include Egbema West Urashi NIPP; Awucha Street Egwe; and Ezeadi O. Ezeadi Terrace.

 

Imo State University Vice Chancellor, Professor Awuzie, admitted that the federal government has contributed immensely to the infrastructural development of the university.

 

He said the projects and grants received from the TET Fund in the past two years include:

 

• Model science laboratory complex (N350 million), special intervention (N100 million) used to furnish law classrooms, as well as funds provided to buy executive tables, white boards, buses, and Hilux vans.

 

• Special intervention for building hostels and their furnishing (N1.2 billion), special intervention for equipment and furniture in laboratories, studios and workshops (N500 million), special intervention for procurement of teaching materials and equipment (N100 million).

 

 

 

• Special intervention for the construction and furnishing of senate building (N1.5 billion), special intervention for the construction of a lecture theatre and procurement of 500 lecture theatre chairs and vehicles (N1 billion).

 

• N1 billion special intervention for construction of another lecture theatre and provision of equipment and facilities at N100 million each for four faculties.
