The Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice Chairman (CEO/EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Aminu Maida, has assured that the Commission will work on improving its 2024 achievements during the new year.
According to the EVC/CEO, the Commission will also provide coverage maps from crowd-sourced data that will show the performance of Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).

The NCC boss stated that the aim of providing the coverage map is to enable users of mobile networks ascertain the most efficient network in their coverage area.
He added that NCC will focus on building its transparency, which will spring up a more robust and healthier competition in the industry.
“2025, I’m really optimistic. We are going to build on the small gains we made in 2024.
“Now that we have laid some of the necessary foundations, we are going to see a lot more transparency to help drive competition and service delivery amongst operators.
“Lastly, we are also going to be providing coverage maps towards the end of the year, from crowd-source data.
“This is not going to be simulated data. It is going to be actual performance data, which will show you what is the best network in your area.
“No longer will you need to ask the man or woman nearest to you. You can actually come to the NCC’s website and look at the data for yourself,” Maida stated.
A key milestone of the NCC in 2024 was the implementation and completion of the Federal Government (FG) policy on the NIN-SIM linkage.
Equally is the designation of its infrastructure as Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) through a Presidential Order issued on November 6, last year.
“This provides a lot of opportunities for the digital economy and national security of the nation. It gives us a very strong foundation from a security perspective”, Maida stressed.
