A lot has happened in the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in the past one year, including deployment of Fibre Optic Link between the TRACON site and the terminal building of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The link facilitates more telephone hotlines to the VCCS of TRACON, said NAMA Director of Safety Electronics and Engineering Services, Emma Anasi, when he listed the achievements of the agency.
He equally cited the Kano Safe Tower nearing completion after years of being put on ice.
“We have also made progress in the replacement of the SATCOM systems in Kano and Lagos Gateways with more efficient and latest technology. AIS Automation is moving as it never did before, and hopefully by the third quarter of 2015, 11 stations will become operational,” Anasi stressed.
NAMA Company Secretary, Paul Oki, traced the gains to the commitment to professionalism, which he said Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Ibrahim Abdulsalam, ensured “by raising standards in keeping with ICAO recommendations.
“He has also set the agency on the path to achieving ISO9001/27001 certification apart from establishing a taskforce for actualising Vision 2015-2020 Impact Plan.’’
NAMA has produced guidelines for its staff in order to streamline medical bills from emergency treatment outside the Aviation Medical Clinic.
A circular signed by Human Resources Director, Uwem Akangson, referred employees to the medical service clause which stipulates that only expenses incurred in the course of referral by the Aviation Medical Clinic would be entertained by the agency, with the approval limit set by the clinic.
