The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, has promised Anambra people good governance and continuation of Mr. Peter Obi’s administration’s policy, considering the ethics of electioneering processes the party has made in its manifesto.
It stated that its programmes would throw the state into another era of great development and civilization if Chief Obaze Oseloka, the former secretary to the state government (SSG), became the state governor.
It stated that Obaze’s manifesto and slogan, “Anambra deserves better,” was not a mere talk, but actually a calculated ideology that would pump dividends of democracy to the people if elected, his compact stands out among other parties and ideas, he sets out five basic principles predicated on globally accepted best practices of good governance and 15 core areas had been identified which his government must tackle proactively in the public interest.
Obaze’s most ideology is to move the state back to sustainable development goals as Mr.Peter Obi strived in the millennium development goals that attracted first position for the state when he was the state governor, Anambra must return to that trajectory with ANIDS-MDG to SDG programme, Obaze said.
OHO as Obaze is fondly called also noted that his government would have zero tolerance to hunger by providing food security to the people, provide adequate mechanized farming, provide sector export value chain, introduce state and community farms, carved a Niche in plantations, support the subsistence farming and provide tools and equipment for rent age in the agriculture sector.
Education, he said, would be his priority, while promising all inclusive, equity-based and qualitative education, free education up to JS3, devote 26 percent of the state budget to education with 10 percent to support parochial schools, support special needs and indigent students and school exchange programmes.
He further stated that the security of a society was every bodies’ business, though on his part as a state governor, he would ensure the presence of federal government support and collaboration to boost security outfits in the state, support state, mobile and community policing, reform and standardize the state vigilante services, reward crime reporters, enforce and amend kidnap laws and improve neighbourhood watch.
He said that if elected, he would empower women and girls, provide 60-40 gender balance in all political appointment which he had already started by choosing Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe as deputy governor, and create safety net for the aged, indigent and those with special needs.
He noted that he would build a new physical and social infrastructure, upgrade and maintain existing ones, provide heavy haulage routes, provide inter-city light rail systems, provide self-support parking lots and open database on land.
He promised to reform SBA Commission, support mom-pop stores, formalize street vending, leverage OPS involvements, create mechanic village, ICT village-market and artisan certificate and license, reform investment entry point, inter-state joint venture, direct foreign investors and improve state fugen savings scheme, train youths in various skills with empowerment, establish youth chamber of commerce and train 1000 youths in four years on digital space.
He promised that he would revamp oil and gas sector, incorporate solar energy in approved building plans and all public buildings, revive the main state water works system in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi to provide portable water, drive derivation rights, actualize the Onitsha-Nnewi-Awka industrial axis, incentivize Anambra entrepreneurs in the SME clusters and include public private partnership in the development of the state, and improve internal generated revenues, offer tax incentives as required to investors, improve traffic parking enforcements and urban furniture levies.
He said that he would promote the well being for all, upgrade primary healthcare facilities in the 177 communities across the state, provide first responders’ emergency medical and transport services with mandatory emergency care and introduce charity care for the people.
In sports, Obaze noted that if elected he would develop two state stadia and a mini stadium in 21 local government areas, establish parks, recreation and open space commission with a mandatory inter-collegiate sporting.
