MWUN visits PTML, appeals for systemic decasualisation, training of workers

The President-General of Maritme Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Comrade Francis Bunu Abi and his union executives paid a visit to Ports & Terminals Multipurpose (PTML), and subsiquently appealed for decasualisation and training of workers in the organization.
Comrade Bunu says the visit to the PTML was to familiarize himself and his executives to the management of the multinational company, situated at the Apapa Quays, Lagos, to abreast the newly elected officials of the Union with their various designated positions to the management; hence, the interface meeting.
In a press release signed by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, stated that the fiercy labour activist, veteran sailor, and astute administrator added that the visit is to show appreciation for PTML goodly relationships with MWUN, which had long been built on a very strong platform; stressing that the Union’s door is always open for fresh ideas of development, progression and of mutual benefits for both bodies as the globe keeps revolving and evolving, so both organizations can as well match up with the pace of national and international development simultaneously in the sector.
The contingents of the Union were warmly received by the Deputy Managing Director of PTML, Mr. Nitin Senan, who stood in for the Managing Director, Mr. Ascanio Ruso, who was unavoidably absent.
Mr. Senan thanked Comrade Bunu for the timely visit, while introducing his team of Mr. Raul Bhargava as the Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Mr. Daniel Uti, Human Resource Manager, Grimaldi Agency Nig, and Janel, Chairman of the Agency.
Sinan says he’s happy to receiving the Union and promised that his management would continue to partner MWUN at all times, given its longstanding ingenuine synergy with the Union in the nation’s maritme space.
However, Comrade Tajudeen Abass says that the PG of the Union, Comrade Bunu wished for this familiarization visit, and reechoed the foremost Maritme Labour leader’s voice that mere telephone chat wasn’t enough as an alternative to this visit, hence, this interface meeting.
The Shipping Branch President, Comrade Abass, however, made some pertinent demands from the management, which include majorly the Decasualization of the Union members in the APMT employ. The voiceferous shipping President while putting the demands across, noted that the decasualization method can take a systemic approach monthly towards a progressive finishing.
He also talked about the training of the workers on e-system, but most importantly through practicals on lifting, carrying and moving of items and equipment within the terminals and also to recognizing Hazardous items and its effects on workers.
Comrade Abass also expressed his appreciation for the opportunity given the Union for the visit
