MWUN salutes muslims on Eid al-Fitr, calls for peace, love, hope

The President-General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has admonished Muslim faithful to emulate the exemplary life of Prophet Mohammed and to demonstrate the true significance of Eid al-Fitr after the Ramadan fast.
Comrade Bunu Abi insisted that the celebration of Eid al-Fitr must not be taken for granted after the long period of fasting, which also represents a time of purity and communion with Almighty Allah.
He added that faith in Almighty Allah remains incomplete if Muslims cannot coexist peacefully with adherents of other faiths, reminding everyone that we all come from one Creator and must therefore accord one another mutual respect.
According to him, until this simple truth is recognized, peace will remain difficult to achieve.
He further explained that Islam and Christianity share the same divine source. The labour leader said Prophet Mohammed came in his time to preach the gospel of Allah, demonstrating love, charity, and hope by practically exhibiting peace wherever he went.
Comrade Bunu Abi noted that the differences between Muslims and followers of other religions lie mainly in methods of worship, but all lead to Almighty God. Therefore, no one has the right to claim a monopoly on truth or to take another’s life under the guise of helping Allah win souls.
Almighty Allah is the ultimate judge of every creature on earth, not any human being with all their imperfections.
Comrade Bunu Abi extended his Eid al-Fitr felicitations to Muslims across the globe, praying especially for victims of the needless war engulfing the Middle East. He described the conflict as one between brothers and called for it to end immediately to prevent further killings, destruction of property, and loss of humanity.
He thanked Muslims in Nigeria and worldwide on this day and urged those tormenting humanity in Nigeria’s North East and other parts of the world to drop their arms and embrace peace—for the sake of Prophet Mohammed’s philosophy, who came to propagate Islam as a religion of love and peace across the earth.
Comrade Bunu Abi concluded by saluting all Muslims worldwide during this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration and advocating for a crime-free society during religious festivities.
