The Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA) has commenced the issuance of Vehicle Registration Number Plates to motorists.
Issuance of Vehicle Registration Number Plates has exclusively been the responsibility of the Federal Road Safety Corps. But in a bid to make the process seamless, MVAA has taken that role in Lagos State.
This may have been a result of the heightened security situation in the country and the need to ensure that all vehicles in Lagos State are properly identified by their vehicle registration number plates.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation in Lagos State, Engr. Abdulhafiz Toriola had earlier warned that the use of faded number plate, use of damaged number plate, misuse of the number plate and non-use of the number plate, all violates the law.
Our reporter who visited the MVAA office at Old Secretariat Block 8, Oba Akinjobi Way Ikeja, said they have been issuing plate numbers seamlessly to motorists.
