The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has threatened to take legal action against Nigerian artiste, Folarin Falana also know as Falz, over his use of models wearing hijab in his new music video, “This Is Nigeria.”

MURIC said that Falz misinterpreted the Chibok girls’ saga. The video irked the group which led to the issue of a seven-day ultimatum for him to withdraw the video or face legal action.

The group termed the video,  “thoughtless, insensitive and hyper provocative.” It said that the video was spiteful and intended to denigrate Islam and Muslims.

“MURIC rejects Falz’ explanation that the girls in hijab in his ‘Shaku Shaku’ dance symbolize the Chibok girls because nothing in the video indicates that the girls represent the Chibok girls,” the statement read.

Falz last month released a cover version of Childish Gambino’s This Is America to a critical acclaim.

”Having girls dance Shaku Shaku in Hijab in my music video was intentional; is there any law against it?’ Falz said after MURIC issued the threat.

Folarin Falana is a lawyer and son of famous human rights activist and constitutional lawyer, Femi Falana.
