Roma coach, Jose Mourinho has been given a four-match ban by the European Football governing body, UEFA, following his verbal assault on English referee, Martin Taylor.
This was made known by UEFA who announced his sanction and that of his club on Wednesday, June 21.
Roma lost the final of the Europa League to Sevilla on penalties on May 31 and it prompted the aggrieved Portuguese manager to query the officiating of the match.
He confronted the English match official after the game, calling Taylor a “f*cking disgrace” and describing his performance in the final as a “f*cking farce”.
Mourinho’s rant, delivered in a mixture of English and Italian, was captured on camera and was immediately the subject of a UEFA investigation.

He was eventually found guilty of “directing abusive language at a match official”, and suspended for four European matches.
According to Sky Sports, in addition to Mourinho’s ban, Roma were also fined £47,500 and restricted from selling tickets to their supporters for their next European match on the road.
The fine is a consequence of a guilty verdict on the fans for “lighting of fireworks, throwing of objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbances”
Mourinho’s suspension means he will miss the club’s start to the Europa League campaign next season after finishing sixth in Serie A.
The Portuguese has taken Roma to consecutive European finals, winning the UEFA Conference League for the Rome-based club in the 2021/2022 season.
