Most Twitter commenters say Atiku is not fit to replace Buhari as president

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has a tough hurdle ahead on his journey to Aso Villa.  His seeming compliance on the first ten days with President Muhammadu Buhari’s ban on Twitter has pitted him against the youths.

Atiku has since returned to the microblogging App, tweeting at least once every day about his activities and engagements. That has not assuaged majority of the young Nigerians on Twitter.

A political movement pushing for his presidency, Atiku Kawai (Only Atiku), has not been able to change the perception of the young Nigerians that Atiku will be better than Buhari.

On Twitter, the comments about Atiku’s presidential project, which is a top trend in Nigeria, has amassed more than twelve thousand comments in the last few hours. The majority of those comments did not favour Atiku.

TheNiche compiled some of the comments.

@firstladyship said: “I have no qualms with Atiku boys. They can continue to Kawai (arguing its only Atiku). it’s their prerogative. What’s not right is having another PAST in Aso Rock after the Buhari calamity. Atiku is one of the elites overseeing the decay in Nigeria in 28yrs. He did not forget his underpants at the Villa.”

@celebokonkwo added: “Most importantly Atiku has done nothing to show that he has something different to offer. He may be better than Buhari, but Buhari is too low a bar to measure leadership in this country. We cannot continue to make the same decisions and expect a different result.”

@dwalkerassassin defended Atiku: “Elections isn’t necessarily about fundamental change. Sometimes it’s a choice between the lesser evil. Atiku is far better than all the candidates that can realistically win in 2023. APC and Buhari are the biggest threat to life since 1999.”

@FS_Yusuf countered: “Atiku’s been playing a cowardly opposition and as such, I don’t see him as one that would promote democracy. His elitism will not answer the call of every day Nigerians. Any party fielding a Northern candidate has no 2023 vision for this country. Let’s even pray there’d be an election.”

@TosinOlugbenga argued: “Politics is all about permutations. You see the hype around Atiku presently is the output of such permutations. If you seek to change anything, join politics. And for 2023, only APC & PDP can win a Presidential election and that’s the absolute truth. I am on the fence for now.”

@Tee_Classiquem1 said: “Atiku is another Buhari with little strength and stable health condition. They have the same view and perspective about life and politics in general. Let’s not be unfortunate again in 2023 please.”

@ayemojubar remarked: “Another Fulani man should not be the next president of Nigeria; if not for anything, for peace’s sake and to ease the tension between them and other ethnic groups. So, if Atiku is truly a man of peace and not disguising like Buhari, he should take a bow for another clan in PDP.”

@Anayo_El  offered another choice: “If PDP put these two men (Seyi Makinde and Peter Obi) in a joint ticket, I and my household will run the wire for them. Peter Obi and Seyi Makinde, are the best PDP has to offer for now not some Atiku guy.”

@Kene_Nnewi concurred: “Come @OfficialPDPNig these two Noblemen (Seyi Makinde and Peter Obi) are your best candidates for the upcoming 2023 presidential election. Give that ticket to Atiku Abubakar and it is over for you people as far as that election is concerned. Atiku will not kawai anything.”

@iamseunalaofin quipped: “Buhari has shown us pepper yet you still want to vote for Atiku again, suffer no Dey tire you?”
