The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the 2019 elections, Professor Kingsley Moghalu, formally received TheNiche Hall of Fame plaque in his Abuja office on Monday, November 7.
Prof. Moghalu is one of the six eminent Nigerians that were inducted into TheNiche Hall of Fame on Thursday, September 8, at the third annual lecture, which held at the Agip Recital Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
Induction into the Hall of Fame is an honour reserved for distinguished personalities who either chaired or delivered the highly anticipated lectures.
The maiden lecture with the theme, “Development reporting and hysteria journalism in Nigeria,” was delivered by Prof Moghalu, while Remi Sonaiya, retired Professor of French Language and Applied Linguistics, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ife, and presidential candidate of the KOWA Party in 2015 was the chairperson.

The second lecture, which held on October 15, 2019, – “Business and accountable governance: The obligations of leadership” – was delivered by Nigeria’s foremost interdisciplinary scholar, Prof Anya O. Anya, under the chairmanship of Dr Christopher Kolade, former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
The third edition, themed, “2023 elections and the future of Nigeria’s democracy,” was chaired by the former Liaison Officer to President Shehu Shagari, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, while former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), was the guest speaker.
While four of the inductees – Prof Sonaiya, Prof Anya, Alhaji Yakasai and Mr Fashola – were physically present and formally inducted on September 8, Dr Kolade, who had a domestic accident in January and was recuperating from surgery, and Prof Moghalu, who was in the United States at the time, only participated virtually and were, therefore, not formally inducted.
But on Tuesday, November 1, TheNiche Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief, Ikechukwu Amaechi, Chief Operating Officer, Eugene Onyeji, Human Resources Manager, Kehinde Okeowo, and Anthony Kila, a professor of Strategy and Development and Centre Director at the Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS), who is also a columnist with the newspaper, formally presented Dr Kolade TheNiche Hall of Fame plaque at his Lagos home.
Then, it was the turn of Prof Moghalu on Monday.
A visibly elated Moghalu thanked TheNiche for the honour and commended the online newspaper for its “incredible journalism.”
Calling TheNiche a partner in progress, Moghalu said he is happy to be associated with the newspaper.
