The police in Lagos have claimed that video evidence exists of ace musician, Panshak Henry Zamani, popularly known as Ice Prince Zamani, allegedly assaulting one of its officers.

Ice Prince is a Nigerian hip-hop recording artist and actor. He rose to fame after releasing “Oleku”, one of Nigeria’s most remixed songs. He also sang the hit song Aboki, which earned him recognition in the music industry.

Lagos Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted via his Twitter handle, @BenHundeyin: “For those asking for video evidence, yes we have it. And no, we won’t release it. A very close ally of his has seen it. It will be presented to the presiding magistrate as part of our evidence.”

Hundeyin’s claim did not convince many tweeps.

@Tee_Classiquem1 said: “It took Nigerian police less than 8hrs to arrest Ice Prince for harassing their officer. It will take them forever to respond when police are harassing an ordinary Nigerian. Naija police don’t understand innocent until proven guilty. They treat every suspect as a criminal.”

@drpenking said: “So Police said that Ice Prince abducted their officer and threatened to throw him inside the river. He thinks he’s him. He thinks he’s John Wick.”

He added: “I would still love to hear Ice Prince’s side of the story because how did an armless citizen abduct an armed policeman? How come the policeman was alone? What about his colleagues? Some things are not adding up.”

@ally_praiz said: “If you have had an experience with the Nigerian Police, you wouldn’t be quick to believe Ice Prince was the wrong party even if they said he slapped the policeman.”

@OnlyKach_tweeted:   “I still want to hear Ice Prince’s side of the Story, Nigerian Police can cook up anything and put it on you once you fail to comply with their demands.”
