Mixed reactions trail Buhari’s ministerial list

Many Nigerians have been reacting on the social media over the ministerial list released by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

Buhari sent the names of nominees for ministerial appointments to the upper legislative chamber 56 days after being sworn in for the second term.

Nigerians are divided over the list provided by Buhari as most of his former ministers are making a comeback, confirmation the speculation of some that it is not likely going to be many changes in the cabinet. The presidential candidate for Alliance for New Nigeria in the last election, Fela Durotoye doubted Buhari’s list saying he does not expect much changes from the cabinet.

“A leader is only as effective as the quality of his team. Do you believe that President @MBuhari #MinisterialList will move Nigeria forward or backwards? I’m curious to know what you think,” Durotoye said. https://twitter.com/feladurotoye/status/1153667558463234054  Others saw the list as a distraction from the Shiite protest in Abuja, which claimed the lives of 11 people, including a reporter with Channels Television.

Because I don’t think competence was anywhere near the criteria used in picking these bunches of old clowns,” says by @Phiicoco.https://twitter.com/PhiiCoco/status/1153655614494695424?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1153655614494695424&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.twitter.com%2F%3Fquery%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Ftwitter.com%252FPhiiCoco%252Fstatus%252F1153655614494695424%26widget%3DTweet. @ Rajgan4edu said, “They’ve turned ministerial appointment to governors’ retirement scheme. These same people that failed their states for about 8 years have been appointed to fail the nation for d next 4. Sorry 4 Nigeria.”https://twitter.com/Rajgan4edu/status/1153654088720142337?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1153654088720142337&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.twitter.com%2F%3Fquery%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Ftwitter.com%252FRajgan4edu%252Fstatus%252F1153654088720142337%26widget%3DTweet.  “How many youths made the list remind me again? When Nigerian senate and minister are just for retired and failed governors. What do I even know?” says @Cenice232. https://twitter.com/canice232/status/1153652438848741376?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1153652438848741376&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.twitter.com%2F%3Fquery%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Ftwitter.com%252Fcanice232%252Fstatus%252F1153652438848741376%26widget%3DTweet. The Nigerian Senate announced that it will begin the screening of the ministerial nominees on Wednesday.
