The National Judicial Council (NJC) has  recommended for immediate compulsory retirement of two judges for alleged misconduct.

The NJC in its statement, named the affected judges as Justice Aliyu Musa Liman of  Bauchi State High Court and Justice Chukwuma Francis Abosi, the Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Imo State.

According to the NJC, Justice Aliyu Musa Liman of the Bauchi State High Court was indicted for withholding judgment in a case marked BA/100/210 between Abubakar Isa and Sheik Tahir Usman Bauchi, for almost four years, as against the three months period provided by the Constitution.

Also the NJC indicted the Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Imo State, Justice Chukwuma Francis Abosi,  of altering his year of birth from 1950 to 1958 to beat his actual retirement year of 2015 when he originally attained the mandatory retirement age of 65 years.

The National Judicial Council therefore recommended the retirement of the two judges to their respective state governors for immediate action.
