The Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, has urged young Nigerians to embrace information technology to brighten their chances of employment in a digitalised economy.
Olawande gave the advice when he engaged young leaders in one of Nigeria’s fastest growing digital hub in Abuja, urging them to be patriotic towards nation building.
The Minister paid a courtesy visit to the Abuja Tech Hub with his team where he met and engaged with selected youth from the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
Encouraging the youth to embrace and support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, the Minister added that they have a crucial role to play in the implementation of the policies and programmes of the new government.
According to him, there is the need for youth to partner with the government in the areas of information technology and digitalising the Nigerian economy.
In the course of the engagement, the youths stated their views on development issues and their expectations from the new administration, especially in the area of employment.
Olawande expressed his readiness to partner with all youths in Nigeria irrespective of their political views, saying that no country can fully develop without tapping into the energy and talents of its young population.
He urged the young leaders to be rest assured that this administration has the best interest of all youth at heart and with time, it will be manifested.
The Minister concluded thay he has an open door policy for youths in all engagements, adding that stakeholders will be carried along in the formulation and implementation of policies on youth development.
“Under this administration, we will do our best to ensure that your hope in a better Nigeria is fully restored and in the end, we will have cause to believe in one Nigeria again”, he added.
