Fresh from scoring a hat-trick for Real Madrid, French striker, Kylian Mbappe, has expressed desire to face La Liga arch-rivals, Atletico Madrid in the next round of the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

He made this known after he helped the Spanish giants to eliminate Premier League champions, Manchester City from the elite European competition on Wednesday night.

TheNiche had earlier reported that Los Blancos progressed into the Round of 16 of the UCL with a 6-3 aggregate after they followed up last week’s 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium with another 3-1 win at home. 

Atletico have impressed this season and sit in third place in the La Liga table – just one point behind joint leaders Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Diego Simeone’s men and Bundesliga side, Leverkusen automatically qualified for the Champions League knockout stages after finishing in the top-eight.

Speaking after the impressive win over Pep Guardiola’s side, Mbappe praised his teammates for beating the English side, adding that he now wants to play against Atletico

He said: “It was a great performance. I want to make history with this club and these teammates.

“Bayer Leverkusen or Atleti next? Both difficult but I prefer Atleti, so we save ourselves a trip!”
