Mass promotions in military to encourage greater dedication to national preservation

A mass promotion exercise has been carried out in the military services, with the Army, Air Force, and Navy elevating a total 306 officers stationed across the country.
The Nigerian Army Council approved the promotion of 108 senior officers to the next ranks of Major General and Brigadier General.
The Air Force Council approved the promotion of 19 Air Commodores to Air Vice Marshal and 33 Group Captains to Air Commodore.
The Navy Board approved the promotion of 146 senior officers to Rear Admiral, Commodore, and Captain.
A statement issued by Army spokesman, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, said 35 Brigadiers General were promoted to Major General and 73 Colonels to Brigadier General, per reporting by Leadership.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, congratulated the officers and their families and charged them to redouble their efforts to justify their elevation and the confidence reposed in them.
Air Force deputy spokesman, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, explained in his own statement that the approval followed the Council’s recent meeting, reflecting its commitment to reward excellence, dedication and outstanding service in the NAF.
He said those promoted include NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, who becomes Air Vice Marshal.
Navy spokesman, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, announced that 24 Commodores were promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, 26 Captains to Commodore and 96 Commanders to Captain.

He reaffirmed the Air Council’s resolve to recognise hard work, professionalism, and loyalty in advancing the NAF’s mission to defend the nation’s territorial integrity.
