Mason Mount’s hat-trick helped Chelsea run riot against Norwich City in the Early Kickoff game, as they scored seven unreplied goals against the visitors.
Mount opened Chelsea’s account when he scored in the 8th minute from a pass from Italian midfielder, Jorginho to make it 1-0 to Chelsea.
The match between the top and bottom of the table teams, recorded another goal for the home side 10 minutes later when Callum Hudson-Odoi scored a second after an assist from Mateo Kovacic.
Norwich City were pathetic in the first half, as they had just a single shot and a touch in Chelsea’s penalty area for the entire half.
Chelsea made their dominance count when they got the third goal through Reece James in the 42nd minute after he was put through by Mason Mount to make it 3-0 to the home side.
The home side continued where they left on resumption of the second half and made it 4-0 on the 57th minute after Ben Chilwell scored from another assist from Mateo Kovacic.
It got worse for Norwich City when Max Arron’s interception of Hudson-Odoi’s ball deflected the ball into his net, and he was credited with an own goal, which gave Chelsea a 5-0 lead.
The visitors’ afternoon became one to forget, when Ben Gibson, tripped Reece Jame, in the 65th minute and got sent off after receiving the second yellow card of the match.
Tim Krul thought he had saved Mason Mount’s penalty in the 83rd minute, but the referee ordered a retake, which Mount scored in the 85th minute to make it 6-0 to Chelsea and a brace for Mason Mount.
Mount made it a hat-trick for himself and 7-0 to Chelsea in the 91st minute after converting Hudson-Odoi’s assist, before Andrew Madley blew the final whistle to end a miserable afternoon for Norwich City.
