Arsenal winger, Gabriel Martinelli, has said he does not mind to compete with Athletic Club winger, Nico Williams for a place in the first team of the Premier League club.
He made this known recently while
reacting to speculations that the Gunners are planning to sign the La Liga forward this summer.
Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, wants to bolster his squad with at least two new forwards when the transfer window opens.
If the transfer eventually happens, Williams, who prefers to play from the left side of the attack, is likely to become a direct competitor for Martinelli in Arteta’s starting lineup next season.
Speaking ahead of the first leg of Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final tie against PSG on Tuesday night, Martinelli insisted he is ready for the challenge.
He said: “We play for Arsenal – it’s a competition every day.
“The club wants to have the best players in the world, because it is one of the biggest in the world as well. We are used to it.
“We are a big club. We need to have the best players. I will be really happy when we have big players coming to the team.”
