Maria advises fans to take Covid-19 seriously after testing positive

BBNaija season 6 ex-housemate, Maria, has disclosed she is Coronavirus positive, but reassured her fans she is recovering well

After being held in Ghana for a while, former air hostess and BBnaija ex-housemate, Maria Chike Benjamin, better known as Maria, has advised her fans to take Covid-19 seriously.

The BBNaija star gave the advice via her Instagram page on Wednesday. while disclosing that she contacted Coronavirus while transiting from Dubai to Ghana 

Maria, while notifying her fans that she is recovering from the virus in Ghana and will be home soon, advised them to take the diseases seriously, while also assuring them she is being taken care of.   

In her words, “Please, do not take COVID-19 for granted, and don’t try to be as stubborn as myself always. I have been placed in the best possible care and receiving treatment. I will be in Ghana until I am fully recovered and tested negative. I love you all and cannot wait to get back to work.”

The 29-year-old reality TV star, while narrating her ordeal, said she tested negative when she departed Dubai, only to test positive on arrival in the West African country.

Maria also said, she had conflicting results and had to take the test severally to ascertain her true status. 

“I initially had a negative result from Dubai less than 24 hours of coming into Ghana. Upon arrival in Ghana, I tested positive and was asked to quarantine. I got a different doctor that tested me negative again. We had so many back and forth results of positives and negatives. But finally, I have tested positive,” Maria said.

She had earlier thanked her fans for showing concern about her well-being while announcing she had contracted the disease. 

She said, “My heartbeats, I heard you were all concerned about me. Thank you so much for all your kind messages. Unfortunately, I have tested positive to COVID-19 but I can reassure you, I am doing really well.”

Social media users in Nigeria and fans of the TV reality star had initially taken to their various platforms to demand her release from the Ghanaian authorities before she announced her Covid-19 status on Wednesday.
