Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has claimed that fans of the Premier League club have “no sense of reality” despite going eleven years without the league title.

He made this known during an interview with Dutch outlet VI ahead of United’s FA Cup final against local rivals, Manchester City.

Speculations are rife that the former Ajax coach will be sacked after the game at Wembley on Saturday, after two seasons in charge.

Under Ten Hag, the Red Devils stumbled to their worst-ever Premier League finish in history after coming eighth in the 2023/2024 season.

Meanwhile, their European football aspiration next season is dependent on Saturday’s FA Cup outcome.

Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, Ten Hag said: “Manchester United won the league for the last time in 2013, 11 years ago.

“But still they expect us to win every game while competing at the top.

“This club is not ready for that.

“We were supposed to start building something and we made the first steps last year, but then you find out how big this club is and that nobody is ever satisfied.

“Within the club people were satisfied, but outside the club there was noise by saying I won only the Carabao Cup, lost the FA Cup Final and became 3rd.”
