Man United leave Ronaldo out of squad to face Chelsea

Ronaldo on Wednesday evening, walked out on the rest of the team at Old Trafford during their game against Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United have announced that Portuguese striker, Cristiano Ronaldo will not travel to Stamford Bridge for the trip against Chelsea on Sunday.

This was confirmed via a press release made available to the public by the club on Thursday, October 20.

The statement clarified that all other players except the 37-year-old will be involved in the game against the Blues and that the squad is fully focused on the match. 

“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea.

“The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture,” the statement read.

The decision is seen as a  punishment meted out to Ronaldo by United boss, Erik ten Hag after he walked out on the rest of the team at Old Trafford during their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils manager’s decision received the backing of the club’s hierarchy.

There are speculations that Ten Hag will approve Ronaldo’s exit from the club during the January window given the Portugal international’s show of discontent at being at the club.
