Scott McTominay gave Man United a perfect start with an 8 minute goal, following a perfect first time strike to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

Jadon Sancho’s attempt to score in the 27th minute was deflected off Ben Mee for an own goal to make it 2-0 to the hosts.

Cristiano Ronaldo tapped in the third goal for United in the 35th minute after a long range shot from Scott McTominay was initially pushed to the bar by Burnley goalkeeper, Wayne Hennessey.

Aaron Lennon pulled a deserved goal back for the visitors in the 38th minute, to give them hope of pulling a second half comeback.

United regained control and managed the second half well to seal an easy win, which took them back into the top six, on the same point with West Ham United in the 5th position.

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick after the match spoke to Amazon Prime, saying Burnley played a physical game and they responded well.

He also said the performance was a lot better, praising the wingers for having a great game. He added that he would only recruit in January if he finds a very quality player.

He said, “As expected it was a very tough physical game against a team who play very physical. We also showed the qualities we have in our team. It was important today to raise the energy level.

“The whole team performance was a lot better, I was pleased with the performances of our wingers. Jadon did well and Mason. Eddie and Cristiano, the work effort was amazing.

“I wouldn’t say fourth is the minimum. It is about taking next development steps. Now eight games in a row without a defeat. It is about taking next steps.

“My focus is on the current players and we have enough players in the squad. Transfers in the winter only make sense if they increase the quality. So far we haven’t spoken about that.”
