A Nigerian man identified on the popular microblogging platform, Twitter as @OtunMuri has caused a buzz on social media after his claim on the standard of education in the country.

The Twitter user took to social media to share the examination paper written by standard six pupils in Nigeria in 1953, then known as the primary school leaving certificate examination.

As seen in the examination paper posted online, the first question required the pupils to attempt to write a letter to a friend in another town.

Posting the question on his Twitter handle, Otun wondered if some fresh degree holders produced by our tertiary institutions can answer the questions in the standard six pupil’s examination paper.

He wrote: “1953 Standard Six Examination Question. Some Bachelor degree holder of today may not answer the question satisfactorily.”

After his post made the rounds on social media, a lot of Nigerians trooped to the comment section, with some disagreeing with him.

However, majority of those who commented shared his sentiments, saying the standard of education has gone south in the country and that it needs urgent attention by governments at all levels to return to its glory days.
