Thirteen year old Opeyemi has testified before the Lagos high court how she was defiled at the age of 11 by one Mr. Ali, popularly known as Baba 90 at Ikorodu.
Opeyemi testifying before the presiding judge, S O Nwaka said that her grandma sent her to go and give her sister sanitary towel.
She said after giving her sister who owns a shop the sanitary towel and on her way coming back home, Baba 90 took her to an uncompleted building, covered her mouth, removed her skirt, and pant and removed also his own nicker and put his penis on her bombom (vagina).
She identified the place BVaba 90 put his penis to the judge.
She explained that when Baba 90 finished having sex with her he told her that if she tells anyone, he will kill her.
“He dropped N70 on the floor before he put his penis on me and asked me to take it when I am going. He said if I tell anyone that he will kill me. When I tried shouting, he covered my mouth with his hands,” she said.
She further told the court that she saw one National Drug Law Enforcement Agency man after the scene.
The officer took her to their office and asked her to call her grand mother. After that, the officer took them to the police station were they wrote statements and was taken to the hospital.
She also explained to the court that it was not the first time, but the second time he is having carnal knowledge of her.
“This is the second time. The first one was done in our house,” she said.
When asked if she told anyone, she said no that she did not tell anyone because he said if she tells anyone he will kill her.
She also disclosed to the court that her grand mother has a shop where she sales provisions. That Baba 90 usually comes to their shop to buy things. That most times he buys on credit and that he was owing them N240.
During cross examination by the defense counsel, she asked how Mr. Ali covered her mouth and at the same time carried her with one of his hands since one of his hands is bad.
She replied that Baba 90 carried her with his two hands, and put her on his back and when they got to the uncompleted building, he brought her down and used the good hand to cover her mouth.
“Why didn’t you shout? Were they nobody there, were you the only one walking on the road when he carried you?” defense counsel asked.
“He covered my mouth. The place is inside. People passing around will not see me and nobody was in the church that is around the building the time the incident occurred and I was the only one walking along the road when he carried me, ” she replied.
It was disclosed to the court that her grandma she was staying with died last year, 2018.
The case was therefore adjourned to June 14, 2019 for continuation of trial.
