Premier League champions, Man City are set to be without their star midfielder, Kevin de Bruyne when they face Arsenal in the Community Shield.

The Belgium international will also miss the start of the new season due to the hamstring tear he suffered during his team’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the 2023 Champions League final.

De Bruyne was forced off the pitch in the first half of the match in Istanbul, although Man City went on to lift the trophy, winning a treble for the first time in their history in the process.

However, according to the Daily Star, it appears the 32-year-old’s injury was a serious one, which will now keep him out of action for the beginning of the new campaign.

He is believed to have suffered a Grade 3 hamstring tear injury that will see him miss the Community Shield clash against Arsenal at the prestigious Wembley Stadium.

De Bruyne is also set to miss the Citizen’s first Premier League encounter against newly promoted Burnley at Turf Moor.

Community Shield is originally between the winner of the Premier League and the FA Cup winner, however, since Man City won both trophies, they will be facing Arsenal, who came second placed in the league last season.
